02 IMG_2580_resized The deck structure was beyond repair and posing a safety risk since years. We found debris and rubble from the original building site under the deck.
01 IMG_2566_resized The rubble was not disposed of properly and contributed to the early decay of the deck structure because it prevented air from circulating sufficiently.
03 IMG_2589_Fotor_resized We removed the entire deck and its substructure, then cleared and prepared the site for the layout of the new deck structure. We also assessed and repaired the water leak on the first floor that caused damage to the windows and doors on both floors.

06 IMG_2686_resized We support local industries and jobs and try to minimise our impact on the environment. We recommend local Australian timber instead of using Merbau from Indonesia. In this case, we used Australian Spotted Gum with its marvellous colours.

Deck Replacement, Lorne

A large family spends their holidays in the Blue House in Lorne with its fantastic view over Louttit Bay.
The Blue House needed thorough renovation and maintenance work. We first assessed major and minor damages and consulted our client regarding priorities, budget and alternative options.
One of the projects was the removal of the old deck and the construction and installation of a new deck.
For the new deck, we recommended a concrete foundation for the structure posts and the use of Australian hardwood for the decking instead of Indonesian Merbau.
Instead of the old corrugated iron railing, a new glass balustrade would preserve the fantastic ocean view and make a great, airy outdoor space for the entire family.
