Our team was recently called in to resolve a persistent balcony leak that had frustrated the homeowner for months. Despite several previous repair attempts by other contractors, the leak continued, leaving our client desperate for a lasting solution.
Upon inspection, we identified the root cause: timber awning posts had been unprofessionally installed, directly connecting to the balcony substructure joists. This setup and insufficient sealant compromised the waterproofing system and allowed water to travel down the posts, eventually seeping through the bedroom ceiling below.
To permanently fix the issue, we:
- Elevated the timber posts using custom steel feet, preventing water from pooling around the base and eliminating direct contact with the tiles.
- Replaced damaged sarking and waterproof membrane in the affected area, ensuring a robust barrier against future leaks.
- Expertly reinstalled tiles around the posts for a seamless and durable finish.
